Blowing Rock (Not Drug Related)

Blowing Rock, NC actually gets it’s name from the fact that there is a nearby cliff looking over John’s River Gorge where objects light enough (like snow) blow upwards rather than down. This effect gives the town it’s name and was also seen on Ripley’s Believe it or not! It’s a very cute town and is a vacation spot for those in the South wishing to escape the heat and humidity of summer.

We stayed in a nice hotel called Meadowbrook Inn & Suites. Our hotels tonight app is coming up 5 stars for us, we really rate this app thus far! Main St was the happening spot. Tim managed to find a home away from home at the English pub, Six Pence, and recommends the shepeherd’s pie. Just next door is a ridiculous chocolate shop called Kiliwins Chocolate Kitchen, clearly a local institution. We went a bit nuts there. There was live music on the lawn, but we opted for the Town Tavern Blowing Rock instead (to be fair, it was raining too hard for outdoor musical frollicks). Upon arrival, there was one seat next to an older gentleman. We don’t know if it was Dione in general or the TART t-shirt that he took offense to, but he literally got up and ran from the bar after Dione sat next to him. Oh well, it meant an extra stool for Tim.

Today’s journey takes us to Nashville, TN, approximately a 385 mile drive which hopefully sees us arrive there by late afternoon.
