On this page we will list some of the best we come across…
Washington DC
Tour Guide Sally
Sally knew her history and she was worth every penny of the $59 for the Night Bus Tour
Virginia
Natural Bridge
If you’re ever in the area, this natural beauty is a must see
Blowing Rock, NC
The Six Pence Restaurant & Pub
English Pub away from home for Tim, try the Shepherds Pie
Kiliwin’s Chocolates
Amazing treats, went a bit insane there after dinner
Town Tavern Blowing Rock
Pulled up a stool next to an older man who then proceeded to literally run from me (Dione), not sure why, but the place was still happening. Try their Margaritas.
Nashville
Scott Coleman
TA Band-aid/Repair Man
Scott very kindly drove to our hotel in Nashville all the way from Kentucky with his two boys to graciously put a bandaid on the trans as she was leaking coolant on Dione’s feet. Thanks again Scott!
The Stage- Downtown Nashville
There are more live music venues/bars in downtown Nashville than you can imagine. They are pretty decent but this is one of the best. We saw John Karl play a great set there. They play regularly at the Stage and elsewhere around Nashville. Check them out- Johnkarl.net
Red Door Saloon- East Nashville
If you get a chance, head over to East Nashville and visit the Red Door Saloon for a beer outdoors or Crow Bar. We were digging the East Nashville vibe.
Memphis, TN
Graceland
When you drive to Graceland, it’s situated in an unexpected place, just past run down strip malls, but once you get there, you’ll see what all the fuss is about.
National Civil Rights Museum
Prepare to cry for a couple of hours. It’s a surreal experience.
Sun Studios
Famous recording studio in Memphis where the greats, including Elvis, recorded their hits!
The Exchange Building
For $79/night, you can’t beat a downtown Memphis apartment in an art deco building with stunning views and close proximity to all the haps including Beal Street.
Clarksdale, MS
The Shack-Up Inn
It’s worth going to Clarksdale, Mississippi just to stay at this eclectic gem.
Ground Zero Blues Club
Co-Owned by Morgan Freeman, this place is popular amongst both locals and those passing through.
Austin, Texas
Lamberts Downtown Barbecue
Not only is it amazing Barbecue, but it was the best meal of our trip thus far- highly recommended!
