Vegas- An ode to the old
Tim and I received the fan clutch in LA by 4pm on Thursday and the car was fixed by 5pm. A quick nip to Griffith Park with a fellow Trans Am owner and Trans Am Country community member Nick (who had helped out with the mechanic recommendation) for some pics and we were off to Vegas.
Tim & Nick:
A buddy of ours, Kevin, lives in Vegas and he was willing to wait up for us until 11:30pm after finally arriving and checking into the Hard Rock. Some sake shots and hooka smokes later, and we found ourselves back at the Hard Rock bar at 4am. First night in Vegas and we’re already losing track of time.
The next day Kevin had it all worked out. We were to go around to his for some pool side recovering before another epic meal prepared by Kevin on the Grill. You see, Kevin is a good cook so we’re never going to object if he’s offering up the idea. It didn’t disappoint. He’s also somewhat of a legend as he had a limo ready for us to take us off the strip and to Downtown Vegas instead, where casinos accepting quarters as payment is still an option. I remember the days of carrying around buckets of change like it was yesterday. How old am I now? Nevermind!
After checking out some of the more seedy downtown establishments, Kevin’s colleague Matt took us to Aria. As I wandered around Aria asking where the bathroom was, a worker in charge of the high roller room said I could use the high roller’s bathroom. I have never seen a bathroom like that. It was like being in a high end beauty salon.
By the time the clock struck 4am again Tim was falling asleep in the Alibi bar and it was time to call it a night.
The next day, we said our thanks and goodbyes to Kevin. Kevin had once philosophically told us to never make stops in life as they just get in the way, but we were happy we did stop in Vegas. We’ve made lots of trips to Vegas but with Kevin as our tour guide, this was a side of it that we had not previously experienced and a lot of fun with it.
Early evening we decided to head out as we thought we had it in us to hit up Hoover Dam. The pics don’t do it justice. It’s massive!! If I was going to call it a day on life, this is where I’d go. Ok, enough of being morbid, let’s head out to Laughlin, Nevada, because what a great town Laughlin is ?!?!
